Achieving a fully weatherproof dome requires meticulous sealing at every joint and penetration. First, we apply continuous EPDM gaskets between each polycarbonate panel and the aluminum pressure plates; these durable rubber strips resist UV aging and compression set. All butt joints and framing intersections receive a high-performance neutral-cure silicone sealant rated for structural glazing, ensuring gap filling and movement accommodation. Overlapping tape membranes wrap each seam before panel installation, providing a secondary moisture barrier. The aluminum frame extrusions feature thermally broken sections to prevent condensation and leak paths. At the base, a fabricated aluminum flashing skirt overlaps the perimeter floor panel, directing rainwater outward and protecting the sealant line. Cable and HVAC penetrations use custom-molded EPDM collars that clamp tightly to the frame. Before shipment, each dome undergoes a water spray test in the factory, verifying zero leaks under simulated 65 mm/hr rainfall. These combined techniques guarantee an airtight, watertight envelope.
