Combining operable louvers with aluminum windows delivers both daylighting and ventilation without compromising facade aesthetics. Louvers can be placed externally—within the rainscreen cavity—or internally, flush with the window glazing plane. External louvers attach to the same mullion grid as windows, using adjustable blade carriers sized to match panel reveals for visual cohesion with aluminum facade panels and ceiling soffits. Motorized or manual crank–operated blades pivot on stainless steel hinges, controlled via discrete handles or building automation. Internal blinds or venetian louvers encapsulated between glazing lites offer maintenance-free operation and concealment within the IGU. For integrated ceiling zones above windows, continuous linear ceiling diffusers can blend into the panel grid, mirroring the louver blade spacing. Seals at louver frame perimeters use EPDM gaskets identical to those around window frames, ensuring airtightness when closed. The result is a unified envelope where windows, louvers, facade panels, and overhead ceilings share a consistent profile language while providing dynamic environmental control.
