A polycarbonate glamping dome built on an aluminum prefabricated frame achieves reliable temperature control through a combination of passive and active strategies. First, the dome’s multiwall polycarbonate panels offer excellent thermal insulation: the trapped air layers between walls reduce heat transfer, keeping interiors cooler in summer and warmer in winter. To regulate solar gain, we apply low-emissivity (Low-E) coatings on the outer polycarbonate surface, reflecting infrared radiation while allowing visible light through. During hot days, retractable exterior shading devices—fabric canopies or motorized louvers—block direct sunlight, preventing overheating. Passive cross-ventilation is engineered by integrating adjustable roof vents and sidewall inlet ports; warm air rises and exits through the top vents while cooler air is drawn in at lower levels. For precise climate control, our aluminum-framed domes accommodate modular mini-split HVAC units; these systems can be pre-mounted on standardized brackets for rapid installation. Insulated floor panels and thermally broken aluminum connections minimize conductive heat loss or gain at the base. Finally, smart thermostats with humidity sensors maintain comfortable setpoints, optimizing energy use. Combined, these design features deliver a stable, comfortable environment year-round.
