To confirm a system’s fire rating, request and review the fire test report from the ceiling manufacturer. It should reference the applicable standard (e.g., ASTM E119 or EN 1364-2), the duration of resistance (60 or 120 minutes), and list every component—panel type, insulation specification, grid system, sealants, and hardware. Inspect product labels and packaging for UL, Intertek, or BRE certification marks. Ensure the submittal includes the installation instructions that match the tested layout. On-site, verify that the panels bear identification tags or embossing indicating the fire-rated designation. During inspection, compare actual installed materials—the exact panel gauge, insulation thickness, sealant bead dimensions, and suspension clips—to the tested configuration. Any substitution or deviation invalidates the declared fire rating.
