PRANCE metalwork is a leading manufacturer of metal ceiling and facade systems.
Suspended ceilings can be fire rated when they are part of a tested fire‐resistance assembly that includes specific ceiling panels, suspension grid, and perimeter components. In an aluminum ceiling system, fire rated performance is achieved by selecting ceiling tiles or planks with a certified fire‐resistance rating—often classified under standards such as ASTM E119 or UL 263. The aluminum suspension grid and main runners must also be part of a tested system so that the complete assembly meets the required rating (e.g., 1-hour or 2-hour). Proper installation is critical: tiles must fit tightly, fire collars and edge trim must seal gaps, and any penetrations for lighting or HVAC must use fire-rated fixtures or intumescent collars. When correctly specified and installed, an aluminum suspended ceiling will help contain heat and smoke, maintain structural integrity, and protect occupants and building contents during a fire event. Regular maintenance and inspections ensure the integrity of seals and system continuity over time.
