Can ACP panels be used in ventilated facade systems?
Yes, aluminum composite panels are ideal for ventilated (rainscreen) facades. In this system, ACP acts as the outer skin, separated from the insulation and structural wall by an air cavity. This cavity promotes natural ventilation, reducing thermal load and preventing moisture buildup behind the cladding. The substructure—typically aluminum or stainless-steel rails—secures each panel using clips or screws, leaving continuous vertical and horizontal gaps for airflow. This rainscreen approach drives stack effect ventilation, expelling humid air and enhancing building energy efficiency.
To ensure weathertight performance, we recommend specifying panel joint profiles with drip edges and high-performance gaskets. Proper detailing around windows, corners, and service penetrations further prevents water ingress.
