Mounting aluminum T bar ceilings from uneven concrete slabs requires precise leveling of hangers and careful anchor selection. Begin by marking the desired ceiling elevation on perimeter walls, then install wall angles at that height. Use a laser level to project reference lines across all walls. Identify and mark concrete slab high spots—use a straightedge or digital level—and note low areas. Drill holes for concrete anchors—preferably stainless steel wedge or sleeve anchors—directly into slab at planned hanger locations. Install leveling clips or adjustable hanger assemblies that allow +/-1 inch of vertical adjustment. Attach hanger wires to these assemblies and suspend from slab anchors. Use locking pliers or wire locks to adjust each wire to the reference plane, compensating for slab irregularities. When all wires are set, install main runners, clipping them into wire hooks and ensuring they rest flush on the wall angles. Proceed with cross tees and tile installation as usual. For extreme unevenness, incorporate intermediate adjustable brackets or angle shims under the wire hangers. This method ensures a uniform ceiling plane, even when the structural slab surface is far from level.
