This system features A-level fire resistance, excellent sound absorption performance, and a lightweight structure, making it highly suitable for modern commercial spaces. Acoustic mineral fiber panels typically have a clean white surface and are coated with factory-preplied vinyl latex paint. However, the color of the surface can also be customized.
The percentage of open area determines how much sound can pass through the metal face and reach the acoustic backing. However, a higher open area does not automatically guarantee a higher NRC.
The backing material is one of the most important factors in a sound-absorbing metal ceiling. Acoustic fleece may provide moderate absorption, while thicker fiberglass or mineral wool can provide stronger absorption when properly integrated into the system.
The air space behind the panel also influences acoustic performance, particularly at lower frequencies.
The same panel can produce different acoustic results when installed with different backing materials, cavity depths, suspension systems, or mounting conditions.This is why developers should compare complete tested assemblies rather than comparing panel materials alone.
If the project places importance on acoustic comfort, priority should be given to perforated or micro perforated metal ceilings, and the sound-absorbing backing and installation system should be purchased as a whole.
