PRANCE metalwork is a leading manufacturer of metal ceiling and facade systems.
Singapore Changi Airport, known as one of the world’s busiest and most advanced airports, continues to set high standards for passenger comfort and operational efficiency. To enhance the interior environment in one of the terminal areas, the custom perforated aluminum panels for ceilings is applied in this project. The custom perforated aluminum ceiling helps to reduce noise, improve air circulation, and create a visually cohesive and modern look for high-traffic public spaces.
Applied Products :
Custom perforated metal panels
Application Scope:
Interior Ceiling
The design concept centered on achieving a balance between performance and visual impact, ensuring the ceiling system enhanced both function and atmosphere within the airport’s busy terminals.
Key elements of the design approach included:
Perforated aluminum panels provided a combination of acoustic absorption, airflow efficiency, and visual lightness, helping to maintain comfort in large passenger areas.
Each panel was carefully customized in size, color, and perforation pattern to harmonize with the surrounding architecture and interior design.
The perforated panels absorb sound efficiently, reducing echoes in busy areas. This feature ensures public announcements remain clear even in crowded spaces and minimizes auditory fatigue for travelers. The improved acoustic environment makes large halls, lounges, and corridors feel calmer and more welcoming.
Aluminum naturally resists corrosion and withstands the wear and tear of heavy daily use. Its non-combustible properties help maintain high safety standards, crucial for large public facilities. These panels endure humidity, temperature fluctuations, and long-term operational demands without losing performance or appearance.
The smooth coating simplifies cleaning and reduces maintenance time, which is crucial in areas with high hygiene requirements. The modular panel system allows maintenance teams to access lighting, HVAC, and other building systems without removing large sections of ceiling or walls, minimizing disruption to passengers.
Perforations allow air to flow freely through the panels, supporting natural ventilation and enhancing HVAC performance. This airflow design reduces energy consumption, effectively regulates temperature, and creates a more comfortable environment for passengers.
Aluminum panels offer high strength while remaining lightweight. This reduced weight simplifies installation and reduces the load on ceiling frames and supporting structures, making them ideal for long-span areas such as terminals, concourses, and spacious public lobbies.
Designers can customize perforation patterns, apertures, and density for functional or visual effect. These panels can be seamlessly integrated with lighting systems, branding elements, or architectural features, providing practical and aesthetic versatility across different terminal areas.
