PRANCE metalwork is a leading manufacturer of metal ceiling and facade systems.
Aluminum drop ceiling systems are compatible with a variety of hanger types to suit structural and code requirements. Spring-wire hangers—composed of galvanized steel wire—provide cost-effective, easy adjustment by twisting the wire around the main tee above the plenum. For heavier acoustic or decorative aluminum panels, rigid steel channel hangers offer enhanced lateral stability, preventing panel movement due to foot traffic in the plenum. In seismic regions, pre-qualified seismic clips and lateral bracing kits ensure the aluminum grid remains secure under lateral loads; these clips clamp directly onto the aluminum main tee without drilling or welding. Perimeter wall angles accept aluminum carrier angles for continuous edge support. For exposed-structure designs, Z-hangers or angle brackets anchor to the structure’s underside, suspending the aluminum panels below the primary framing for a floating appearance. All hangers should be specified to meet load ratings recommended by the grid manufacturer—aluminum grid components typically support lighter loads than steel but remain adequate for most tile and acoustic media. Compatibility is ensured by selecting hangers listed within the grid system manufacturer’s installation guide, simplifying procurement and warranty compliance.
