PRANCE metalwork is a leading manufacturer of metal ceiling and facade systems.
Modular metal ceiling tiles offer versatile installation options tailored to project needs. The three primary methods are lay-in, clip-in, and hook-on:
Lay-in systems use an exposed T-bar grid (typically 600×600 mm modules). Tiles simply rest within the flanges, offering fast installation and easy removal. This approach suits budget-sensitive projects where quick access to plenum spaces is essential.
Clip-in systems feature a concealed grid: tiles attach via spring clips or torsion springs that hook onto carrier rails, hiding the suspension framework. This yields a monolithic ceiling plane with no visible grid lines—ideal for premium interiors. Panel removal requires releasing the clips, maintaining a flush aesthetic.
Hook-on systems employ edge-hooked tile flanges that latch onto carrier channels, combining the low profile of clip-in with the simplicity of lay-in. Hook-on tiles can be lifted directly out of the grid without full panel rotation, making them suitable for sloped or constrained ceiling heights.
Selection depends on factors like desired aesthetic, access frequency, and budget. All methods support custom perforations, finishes, and edge details. Proper coordination with structural and MEP trades ensures that module layouts align with fixtures and penetrations. By choosing the appropriate installation method, designers achieve the optimal balance of appearance, functionality, and maintainability.
