What structural benefits do aluminum batten wall claddings provide?
Aluminum batten wall cladding consists of vertical or horizontal aluminum strips (battens) mounted onto a sub-frame to form a ventilated rainscreen. The battens’ lightweight nature reduces demands on the supporting structure, enabling faster installation and smaller foundation requirements. Concealed clip-in fixings allow easy replacement of individual battens without disrupting the facade. Stiffening ribs in the batten profile give high span capacity and wind-load resistance, often up to 2 kPa. Thermal-break clips prevent conductive bridging between the battens and the structural frame, preserving insulation performance. The modular layout permits continuous expansion joints at regular intervals, accommodating thermal movement.
