PRANCE metalwork is a leading manufacturer of metal ceiling and facade systems.
Fire rated ceiling tiles are required wherever the ceiling assembly must maintain a specified hourly fire-resistance rating. This includes areas under exit corridors, stair enclosures, elevator lobbies, and fire barrier walls, as defined by the IBC and NFPA codes. In these zones, the entire ceiling system—including aluminum tiles, suspension grid, hangers, and trim—must be rated as a complete unit and listed under UL 263 or ASTM E119. Fire rated tiles feature noncombustible cores or fire-retardant additives and are paired with approved grid components to achieve the desired rating. Penetrations for lights, diffusers, and wiring must use fire-rated collars or sealants. By specifying fire rated aluminum ceiling tiles in these critical areas, designers ensure compliance with life safety requirements, maintain compartmentation, and support building fire protection strategies.
