PRANCE metalwork is a leading manufacturer of metal ceiling and facade systems.
Fastening to ACM panels is common in both aluminum ceiling and facade systems, but it must be done with care to preserve panel integrity and prevent corrosion. Two primary methods exist: through-fastening and concealed-clip attachments.
Through-fastening involves drilling through the panel flange into the supporting aluminum subframe, then installing corrosion-resistant screws or rivets with neoprene or EPDM washers. Maintain recommended setbacks—usually 20–30 mm from the panel edge—and pre-drill clearance holes slightly larger than the fastener shank to allow for thermal expansion. Seal the fastener head and cut edges with compatible sealant.
Concealed-clip systems use factory-attached or separate metal clips that engage with specially designed panel flanges. Clips fasten to the substructure, leaving the panel face free of visible hardware. This approach yields a clean look and accommodates panel movement. Ensure clips are rated for panel weight and wind loads.
Before fastening, confirm that the aluminum framing is properly aligned and provides continuous support along panel edges. Always follow the ACM manufacturer’s installation guide for fastener types, torque settings, and sealant specifications. Proper fastening ensures secure attachment without compromising performance or aesthetics.
