PRANCE metalwork is a leading manufacturer of metal ceiling and facade systems.
3D point cloud technology is an indispensable asset in the design and engineering of metal facades for irregular-shaped landmark building structures, fundamentally transforming how architectural envelopes are executed. Irregular buildings, characterized by sweeping curves, non-standard angles, and complex organic forms, present extreme challenges for traditional measurement and surveying techniques. 3D laser scanning addresses this by firing millions of laser pulses per second at the physical structure, capturing the exact spatial coordinates of every surface and contour. This generates a massive dataset known as a point cloud, which acts as a millimeter-accurate digital twin of the as-built environment. When our design team imports this point cloud into advanced BIM and 3D modeling software, it provides an infallible foundation for engineering the custom metal cladding. It allows us to identify any structural deviations or construction tolerances that differ from the original architectural plans. Consequently, each individual bespoke aluminum panel and its underlying support framework can be uniquely sized, shaped, and angled in the digital space to perfectly conform to the real-world structure. This preemptive clash detection and precise digital fitting eliminate the need for costly on-site modifications, ensuring that the installation of the double-curved or complex metal facade is seamless, efficient, and visually flawless.
