PRANCE metalwork is a leading manufacturer of metal ceiling and facade systems.
Preventing corrosion in metal mesh cladding—particularly aluminum systems—begins with material selection and extends through fabrication and installation. Choose marine-grade aluminum alloys (5005, 5083) known for excellent chloride resistance. Protective surface treatments like PVDF coatings or anodizing add durable barriers against moisture and pollutants. During fabrication, maintain clean environments to avoid contamination; remove burs and sharp edges to prevent coating holidays. Incorporate design features such as drip edges, sloped surfaces, and open joints to avoid water pooling. A ventilated rainscreen assembly promotes airflow behind the mesh, accelerating drying and reducing corrosion risk. Use 316-grade stainless-steel fasteners and anchors to prevent galvanic interaction, and isolate dissimilar metals with non-conductive washers or gaskets. Seal system penetrations with UV-stable silicone. Regular inspections and rinsing remove corrosive deposits. Together, these measures ensure mesh cladding remains structurally sound and visually pristine in challenging conditions.
