PRANCE metalwork is a leading manufacturer of metal ceiling and facade systems.
When securing drywall or other ceiling systems, you must be able to locate the position of joists. The most certain means for finding ceiling joists is to use a stud finder tool that responds to wood or metal beams behind the ceiling fabric. If you don't have a stud finder, however, you can lightly rap on the ceiling with your knuckles--the sound will change when hit a joist. Ordinarily these are spaced at 16-inch or 24-inch intervals, so once you've located one, measure accordingly to find the others.
