Middle East Butterfly Valley Geodesic Dome Sunroom Design Project
This original design project was developed for a rooftop space in the Middle East, where the client wanted to transform an rooftop area into a comfortable environment for leisure, relaxation, and social gatherings. The project combines a geodesic dome structure with an aluminum alloy frame and glass enclosure, creating an open rooftop space that brings in natural light and surrounding views.
Based on the client’s requirements and the characteristics of the site, PRANCE provided customized design support to develop the overall concept, spatial arrangement, and design details of the sunroom. The completed Geodesic Dome Sunroom makes better use of the rooftop area and provides a bright, open space where users can enjoy outdoor views while staying comfortable inside.

PRACE design team aims to transform a rooftop area into a functional commercial space for public use, leisure, and social interaction. The project aims to create a rooftop environment that enhances the architecture's commercial value by offering open views and abundant natural light, while supporting a comfortable and engaging experience for visitors throughout the day.
1. Creating an Open Rooftop Space
To achieve this goal, the design team introduced a geodesic dome structure as the main spatial concept. The curved form creates a sense of openness and makes the rooftop area feel more spacious than in traditional enclosed structures. This dome design provides a balanced environment that combines openness with privacy.
2. Combining Glass and Dome Structure
The Geodesic Dome Sunroom combines a structured dome frame with large glass panels to create an open and bright rooftop environment. The curved dome form provides a balanced visual appearance, while the transparent enclosure allows natural light to enter and maintains clear views of the surrounding area.
The combination of the aluminum frame and glass panels creates a comfortable connection between the indoor space and the outdoor surroundings, allowing users to enjoy the openness of a rooftop setting while staying protected from changing weather conditions.
