Both curtain walls and cladding are external building envelope solutions, but they differ in function and construction:
- Curtain Wall: A non-load-bearing system made of aluminum and glass that enhances insulation, protects against weather, and offers design flexibility.
- Cladding: A covering layer (made of aluminum, stone, or composite panels) attached to the building’s structure primarily for decoration and protection. Cladding does not have the same integrated insulation and weatherproofing features as curtain walls.
Curtain walls provide a complete façade solution, while cladding is a secondary covering for exterior walls.
