On a sun-drenched terrace in the Gulf, where surface temperatures can become extremely high, thermal comfort is a crucial safety and usability consideration. When comparing materials, our aluminum railing offers significantly better thermal comfort than stone. The key factor is thermal conductivity. Stone, being dense and having low thermal conductivity, absorbs and stores a large amount of heat energy from the sun. This means a stone railing becomes extremely hot to the touch and, more importantly, it retains that heat for a very long time, continuing to radiate it even after the sun has passed. This can make the railing unsafe to touch and can contribute to a hotter overall ambient temperature on the terrace. Aluminum, by contrast, has high thermal conductivity. While it will also heat up in direct sunlight, its properties work in your favor. High conductivity means it both absorbs and dissipates heat very quickly. As soon as a cloud passes, a breeze picks up, or the sun's angle changes, an aluminum railing will rapidly shed its heat and cool down to a safe temperature. It does not store and radiate heat in the same way as a massive stone railing. Furthermore, our premium powder-coated finishes can be selected in lighter colors, which have higher solar reflectivity, further reducing heat absorption compared to dark-colored stone. This makes our aluminum railing a much safer and more comfortable option for family homes, poolsides, and commercial spaces where people are likely to come into contact with the railing surfaces during the day.
