PRANCE metalwork is a leading manufacturer of metal ceiling and facade systems.
Hong Kong International Airport is one of the busiest and most advanced aviation hubs in the world, serving millions of passengers annually. Its terminal buildings feature highly integrated ceiling systems that house mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), and safety infrastructure. Given the complexity and critical nature of airport operations, efficient maintenance and reliable access to these concealed systems are essential.
To meet these demands, PRANCE supplied 4,000 ceiling access panels, specially designed to provide safe, fire-rated, and visually integrated access throughout key areas of the terminal. Our solution ensures long-term durability, compliance with international safety standards, and seamless integration with the airport’s ceiling systems, supporting both daily operations and ongoing facility management.

| Client Requirement
The client required a ceiling access panel solution that met the following stringent criteria:
| tailored Solution
PRANCE developed a customized composite ceiling access panel system to meet the client’s requirements, featuring high-quality materials, precise engineering, and a focus on safety.
Material Selection & Composite Structure
Aluminum Outer Frame: Constructed from premium, corrosion-resistant aluminum, providing both strength and a lightweight design. The aluminum surface undergoes special treatments to enhance durability and aesthetic appeal.
Ceramic Fiber Board Core: The internal layer consists of ceramic fiber board, known for its high-temperature resistance and excellent insulation properties, ensuring the panels achieve the required fire ratings.
Composite Integration: The sandwich structure combines aluminum’s mechanical strength with the fireproofing properties of ceramic fiber board, optimizing the panels for use in high-demand environments like airports.
Opening Mechanism: Screw-Rotating Lock System
Each panel features a concealed screw-rotating lock that can be easily released using a standard flat-head screwdriver. This design avoids the need for exposed handles or hinges, maintaining a clean ceiling appearance while preventing unauthorized or accidental access. The locking mechanism is engineered to resist vibrations and air pressure fluctuations, keeping the panel securely in place during airport operations. Its compatibility with standard maintenance tools also simplifies future servicing and ensures quick access to concealed infrastructure.
Safety Features
Each panel is fitted with a safety suspension cable to prevent accidental falls during maintence. This feature ensures te panel stays tethered to the ceiling, complying wiht stringent safety regulations for high-ceiling access work.
Performance Enhancements
Durability & Corrosion Resistance: Designed for 24/7 airport operations, the panels are engineered to withstand exposure to varying humidity levels and continuous use. Their corrosion-resistant design ensures long-term performance with minimal maintenance.
