PRANCE metalwork is a leading manufacturer of metal ceiling and facade systems.
The Hong Kong Skybridge Project, located in the New Territories, is making significant progress as installation work enters a critical phase. Supplied and designed by PRANCE, the custom aluminum cladding system is being installed with high precision and efficiency, thanks to the modular design strategy and full-scale factory mock-up prior to site delivery.
Before the construction of the skybridge
3D Model of the skybridge
This skybridge, approximately 40 meters high, features a distinctive architectural form with triangular aluminum wood-grain panels supported by a galvanized steel frame. From the early design stage, PRANCE was involved in structural detailing, material planning, and product customization. Given the complexity of the structure, the project presented considerable challenges, particularly in ensuring surface alignment and consistent wood grain direction across a geometrically changing elevation.
To overcome these difficulties, PRANCE conducted a comprehensive full-scale mock-up in its factory, replicating the actual structural configuration of the bridge ceiling system. Every detail, from panel joints to bolt positions, was tested and adjusted during this pre-assembly stage. This trial installation not only verified the accuracy of the design but also eliminated potential risks during onsite execution.
Mock-up in the factory
Trial effect
The factory mock-up proved to be a key success factor. It enabled the team to reduce unnecessary on-site adjustments, ensured tight alignment between prefabricated modules, and guaranteed visual consistency across large spans. Following successful validation, the panels underwent surface treatment and coating before being shipped to the site in modular sections.
On-site installation
Once onsite installation began, the benefits of this preparation became immediately clear. The large-format modules—optimized for fewer joints and streamlined connection points—were lifted and installed rapidly. The alignment and fit were accurate, requiring minimal correction. As a result, the entire installation process proceeds much more smoothly and quickly than with traditional systems, greatly saving time and labor.

Installing the panel
PRANCE's team provided the technical installation guidance and ensure each step met the project's high-quality standards. The seamless execution has showed the practical advantages of integrating modular design with factory-based validation, particularly for complex urban infrastructure projects.
As the installation phase nears completion, the Hong Kong Skybridge is already taking shape as a striking addition to the city's urban landscape. More importantly, it serves as a case study in how pre-assembled systems and precise engineering can transform architectural vision into efficient, real-world construction. PRANCE's involvement from design to delivery has once again proven the value of smart modular solutions in delivering both aesthetic and practical excellence.
