This client shares a long-standing partnership with PRANCE, having previously collaborated on the Hong Kong International Airport and West Kowloon Cultural District projects. The acquisition of the New Territories Footbridge project is not only an expansion of PRANCE’s business but also a significant historical milestone for the company.

| Challenge
For this project’s framework, we are currently conducting a test installation of the framework and triangular panels. Originally, these modules were divided into ten, but now they have been reduced to only three. So, what led us to make such a bold decision?
First, the ceiling of the bridge is as high as 40 meters, and given the limited space in the city center, it is extremely challenging to install the framework and triangular panels piece by piece.
Second, labor costs in Hong Kong are relatively high, which would result in significant manpower consumption.
Third, if the project were divided into ten modules, ensuring the consistency of the wood grain direction on the tapered structure would require constant minor adjustments during on-site installation, which would be highly cumbersome.
| Solution
In response to these challenges, the entire PRANCE design team held multiple discussions and decided to optimize the original ten modules into three. This adjustment allows the triangular panels, after undergoing wood grain treatment, to be more easily aligned with the tapered structure, ensuring uniform wood grain direction. Additionally, it simplifies the on-site installation process, making it easier and more efficient for the workers.
PRANCE’s factory has a strong capability for modular construction, enabling us to shift the installation process to the factory. By simulating the installation on a 1:1 scale, we ensure that the assembly and adjustment between the framework and the triangular panels are perfectly aligned. This approach minimizes on-site installation issues, allowing for seamless integration between the framework and panels, ultimately saving time and reducing installation difficulties.
Once the pre-assembly of the triangular panels and framework meets the required standards, we will proceed with galvanizing and wood grain treatment over the following days. This ensures that the product will not only maintain its durability but also retain its aesthetic quality over time.
