Nigeria Africa Regional Ministry Headquarters Horn Towers Facade Design Project

The Nigeria Africa Regional Ministry Headquarters (Horn Towers) in Nigeria was planned as a multifunctional Christian ministry center, combining worship spaces, mission activities, education programs, and community services.

For this project, PRANCE provided original design solutions for the building facade, developing five different design concepts based on the client's requirements. Without specific style limitations, the design proposals explored various approaches to create a recognizable building identity while considering Nigeria's tropical climate, functional requirements, and the relationship between the ministry center and its surrounding community.

| Design Concept

The client requested different exterior design proposals for this tower facade. Without specifying a particular architectural style, this open design requirement allowed us to explore multiple facade directions based on the building's function, local environment, and community role.

As a Christian ministry center, the project needed to support various activities, including worship, mission programs, education, communication, and community services. The design goal was to create an exterior identity that could represent the importance of the headquarters while maintaining an open and welcoming connection with its users.

1. Functional Planning and Design Focus

For this project, the overall design concept centered around the main worship space, with the dome structure creating a visual focus for prayer, worship gatherings, and large events. Supporting areas, including mission communication spaces, public plazas, reflection pools, and landscape zones, were considered as important parts of the overall experience.

2. Environmental Considerations and Design Options

Considering Nigeria's tropical climate, the design directions incorporated natural lighting, open spatial connections, and landscape integration to improve comfort and strengthen the relationship between the building and its surroundings.

| 5 Design proposals

Based on the client's requirement for five different exterior concepts without a fixed design style, we developed multiple design directions for the ministry headquarters. Each proposal explores a different approach to balancing worship functions, community needs, environmental conditions, and the building's role as a regional ministry center.

Version 1

This proposal places the main worship space at the center of the building. The central dome provides a dedicated area for prayer, worship services, ceremonies, and large gatherings, creating a comfortable environment for believers and visitors.

A sweeping curved canopy structure surrounds the dome, forming a recognizable exterior feature while providing shade and shelter for the surrounding gathering areas. The transparent dome introduces natural light into the interior space and strengthens the connection between indoor and outdoor areas.

The surrounding plaza and tropical landscape support community activities, visitor interaction, and daily gatherings, allowing the ministry center to serve both religious and public functions.

Version 2

The design combines the central dome with a clean, horizontal canopy structure, creating a balanced and contemporary exterior expression.

And the canopy applied flat aluminum panels with a smooth and consistent surface finish, forming a simple geometric appearance around the dome area. The flat canopy design provides a clear visual order while creating covered spaces for visitors, gatherings, and daily activities.

Public plazas, reflection pools, and landscape areas extend the function of the building, providing spaces for meetings, learning, and personal reflection. The proposal supports different user groups, including ministry members, visitors, and local communities, creating a flexible environment for communication and long-term community engagement.

Version 3

This option emphasizes the role of natural light in creating a welcoming worship environment. The central dome introduces daylight into the main gathering space, enhancing comfort and creating a bright atmosphere for worship services and group activities.

In this version, the surrounding canopy combines glass sections with metal panels in an alternating layout, allowing natural light to pass through while maintaining a clear and structured exterior appearance. This material combination creates a balance between transparency and shading.

Version 4

The design version centers around the dome structure, with a large surrounding canopy creating a unified and ceremonial entrance space. The canopy uses metal carving panels to form a detailed surface pattern, adding depth and texture to the exterior while creating changing light-and-shadow effects throughout the day. The combination of the dome and sculptural canopy enhances the building's recognition and gives the ministry headquarters a distinctive character.

The surrounding open areas support public gatherings, visitor reception, and community activities, allowing the landmark form to remain practical for daily use.

A wing-like curved canopy extends from both sides of the central dome, covering the entrance and surrounding gathering areas. The flowing roof form creates a clear connection between the worship space, public plaza, and outdoor landscape, providing shaded areas for visitors and community activities.

Beyond religious functions, the building also supports learning, communication, and community programs, allowing the ministry center to serve as a shared space for local development.
