PRANCE metalwork is a leading manufacturer of metal ceiling and facade systems.
In this office renovation project at Hong Kong International Airport Terminal 1, PRANCE supplied aluminum honeycomb wall cladding and profile baffle ceiling systems for the office internal corridors.
The renovation focused on enhancing the overall office environment while maintaining the fire safety and long-term performance in airport office operations. The renovation transformed an aging office corridor into a cleaner and more contemporary workspace. In addition to improving the overall appearance of the area, the new wall and ceiling systems support easier maintenance and meet the long-term operational needs of the airport.

After reviewing the renovation requirements of the airport office corridor, the PRANCE technical team proposed a 15 mm aluminum honeycomb wall panel system consisting of a fire-resistant decorative board, a 0.9 mm aluminum face sheet, an aluminum honeycomb core, and a 1.0 mm aluminum back sheet.
Given the corridor's daily use by airport staff, durability and surface quality were important considerations for the wall system. The aluminum honeycomb panel structure helps maintain panel flatness and a consistent visual finish, supporting the long-term performance of the renovated space.
This honeycomb panel system also meets the fire safety requirements, supporting both operational reliability and public safety.
The aluminum honeycomb panels provide excellent surface flatness, creating clean and uniform wall finishes throughout the corridor. This helps achieve a neat and modern appearance, particularly in office environments where wall surfaces are viewed at close range and visual consistency plays an important role in the overall interior quality.
For this renovation project, the modular panel system also contributed to a more efficient installation process, helping reduce disruption within the airport's office area. The materials are environmentally friendly and produce no noticeable odor after installation, allowing the renovated corridor to be returned to normal use more quickly while supporting a comfortable working environment for airport staff.
To enhance the visual experience of the long office corridor, our design team worked closely with the project requirements and supplied aluminum profile baffles in four different dimensions: 15W×75H, 15W×105H, 25W×80H, and 25W×50H.
By combining multiple widths and heights within the same ceiling layout, the design introduces rhythm and variation throughout the corridor. This approach helps break the visual monotony often associated with long office passageways and creates a stronger sense of depth. The layered arrangement visually extends the space, making the corridor feel more open and less confined.
Two different surface finishes were applied across the profile baffle ceiling system, creating visual contrast and adding depth to the corridor interior.
The bronze-colored sections use a three-coat PVDF finish from PPG, which provides a refined metallic appearance and contributes to the professional atmosphere of the office environment. The coating also offers excellent resistance to discoloration.
The gray baffle ceilings are applied with the AkzoNobel powder coating finish and comes with a 10-year warranty. The finish helps maintain color consistency over the long term while reducing maintenance requirements, making it well-suited for interior spaces that operate throughout the year.
The baffle ceiling system also supports the integration of various building services within the renovated space. Its open linear design helps maintain a clean and organized ceiling appearance while accommodating the functional requirements of the corridor.
In addition to enhancing the aesthetics of the corridors, the ceiling system also facilitates future maintenance activities, making it easier to inspect and repair the rooftop facilities, which is an important consideration for facilities that operate continuously throughout the year.
Each aluminum baffle underwent precise bending, welding, and surface finishing processes to achieve the required dimensions and appearance. Throughout production, the PRANCE quality control team conducted inspections at every stage to ensure consistent quality and installation accuracy.
