PRANCE metalwork is a leading manufacturer of metal ceiling and facade systems.
As one of the world's busiest airports, Hong Kong International Airport needed a durable and safe ceiling access solution to support continuous maintenance of its hidden MEP systems and utilities. Since the airport operates around the clock and handles heavy passenger traffic, the project required a system that could combine durability, fire resistance, operational safety, and a clean architectural appearance.
To meet these requirements, PRANCE technical team developed and supplied a customized ceiling access panel system for multiple terminal zones. The final solution improved maintenance efficiency while preserving the modern visual style of the airport interior.

PRANCE technical team developed a fully customized ceiling access panel system specifically for large-scale transportation facilities. The design focused on safety, durability, appearance, and long-term maintenance efficiency.
Aluminum was selected for the panel structure because it offers an excellent balance between strength and weight. Compared with conventional steel systems, the lightweight aluminum design reduced ceiling load pressure while still delivering strong structural performance.
Each panel frame is manufactured to precise dimensions for stable installation on large ceiling surfaces. The reinforced internal structure and smooth panel edges also improve alignment consistency and long-term operational stability.
The airport facilities require strict fire protection standards, and PRANCE ceiling access panels incorporated a fire-resistant composite core that enhanced both thermal insulation and flame resistance performance.
The fire-resistant ceramic fiber core helped slow the spread of heat and smoke during emergencies while maintaining the integrity of the ceiling system. In addition, the composite structure handled temperature fluctuations and environmental stress more effectively in high-traffic public spaces.
Maintaining a clean and modern ceiling appearance remained one of the project’s key priorities. To achieve this effect, the team customized the access panels with concealed framing details and flush-mounted installation methods, allowing the panels to blend naturally into the surrounding ceiling layout.
The surface finish and color treatment also matched the airport’s interior design scheme, creating a consistent architectural appearance throughout the terminal areas.
To simplify future maintenance work, each panel included a concealed locking mechanism that provided secure closure while allowing technicians to open the panels quickly during inspections or repairs.
The hidden locking design improved ceiling aesthetics and reduced the risk of unauthorized access. And at the same time, maintenance teams could conveniently access HVAC systems, electrical wiring, fire protection equipment, and utility pipelines without damaging nearby ceiling components.
After installation, the customized ceiling access panels made maintenance tasks across the airport terminal easier and safer. The system met the terminal's functional requirements while supporting day-to-day facility management.
